If you prefer to still participate in the program but from a distance, you can enjoy the line-up of varied topics and speakers and even join the conversation via a live chat during the LIVESTREAM. Either way, you will have on-demand access for three months thereafter!

Ever been forced to choose between two sessions you really want to attend

Why not have it all? Whether you register to attend in-person or virtually, you will have access the full two-day program at your leisure, ON-DEMAND, for three months. Rewatch your favorite sessions or expand into new areas.

Timely Topics

Recently, professionals in behavioral health and addiction treatment have had to face an incredible amount of new knowledge and treatment challenges. Topics covered by this program will incorporate this knowledge and the most current and pertinent education to assist professionals dealing with the consequences of our modern day pandemic – past, present and future considerations.

While these times are paramount in the minds of all our generations, life is going on and professionals still need to be present to educate, screen, assess, diagnose and treat individuals facing all behavioral health and addiction disorders. The expanse of topics is wide and this program will bring many of them to the forefront for you to explore. (See conference agenda)

Experimental Escapes

Jump from traditional educational sessions to ‘experiential escape areas’ to enjoy firsthand experiences with alternative, complimentary and indigenous practices. This fairly new feature of Generations has been an attendee favorite wherein you can learn how to bring new dimensions to your practice as well as to your personal life. Escape into native practices, yoga, reiki, music and art therapy, foot zoning, Pilates, meditation and the like. (To afford participants the most personal and interactive experiences, these programs will only be available to in-person attendees.)

Follow Your Interests

No need to sign-up for a ‘track’ or be limited to a line of sessions. Attend what you want, when you want. If you traditionally get caught up in a specialty line (i.e. neuropsych, addiction) now is your chance to jump lanes and learn about other areas of interest or curiosity.

Extra Credit

Why not?! With this hybrid mix, you can sign-up for almost 100 hours of continuing education credit in most fields. Don’t need that much credit but still want to take in extra knowledge by expert faculty. Do it! Gain the knowledge and take back new tools and skills to improve your own practice and the lives of your clients. Learn ways to enhance your professional and personal life. (Gain special credits in ethics, cultural competency, and suicide prevention.)

See how ‘science’ is coming full circle and researching how people of indigenous populations have dealt with issues long before scientific evidence guided us. Look at today’s hype around psychedelics. Find out what you may be missing with your clients and how you may be able to reach those whom you thought were ‘unreachable’.

Phenomenal Keynote Speakers

Joe Tafur, MD

Dr. Joe Tafur has been an Integrative Medicine activist throughout his medical career. With colleagues, he started Modern Spirit, a non-profit organization dedicated to demonstrating the value of spiritual healing in modern healthcare. In addition to education and community-building projects, Modern Spirit is currently focused on supporting the Modern Spirit Epigenetics Project, a groundbreaking substudy of the MAPS MDMA-assisted Psychotherapy research trial.

Dr. Tafur attended the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, then completed a Family Medicine Residency at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After residency, Dr. Tafur did a two-year Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the UCSD Department of Psychiatry then continued on as a family physician and eventually worked in the Peruvian Amazon. At Nihue Rao, Dr. Tafur underwent traditional apprenticeship in Traditional Amazonian Plant Medicine and Shipibo curanderismo.

After years of work in the forest, Dr. Tafur stepped down as a business partner at Nihue Rao, in 2017 to focus on new projects. In March of 2017, he published his book The Fellowship of the River: A Medical Doctor’s Exploration into Traditional Amazonian Plant Medicine about his unique journey into spiritual healing work.

Dr. Tafur continues to lead Journeys to Latin America to experience Traditional Amazonian Plant Medicine and Ayahuasca curanderismo. He leads groups to Nihue Rao in Peru and elsewhere, guiding individuals through the process of spiritual healing and traditional education.
Very interested in education, Dr. Tafur has supervised traditional learning opportunities for a number of U.S. medical students and therapists. Working to bridge the worlds of modern science and traditional healing, he has presented across the globe as well as at a number of medical schools, including the University of Arizona’s Center for Integrative Medicine, UCSD, Yale, Southwestern College of Naturopathic Medicine and the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Dr. Tafur has been the primary host of the Modern Spirit Podcast, exploring the intersection between biology, emotion and spirituality.

Generations is pleased to welcome Dr. Tafur to Utah to share the current state of psychedelics – from research to legalities of its use, epigenetics, integrated medicine, and paradigms that may shake-up your practice as well as the future of health practices in the U.S. and beyond.
