    CONFERENCE PURPOSE

    To join health and mental health professionals from Utah and contiguous states, to increase their knowledge of the behavioral health and substance use disorder issues facing today’s diverse society in order to develop and implement effective prevention and intervention / treatment programs and strategies. Ultimately, this step will create improvement in clinical practices and client care in individual and community practices / programs.

    CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

    • To increase awareness and to share current knowledge of critical behavioral health and substance use issues throughout the life span and to identify and define their relevance to peers, family members, and business, community and government influences.
    • To develop strategies to more effectively promote the healthy growth and development of individuals in all adult developmental stages and various cultural / ethnic backgrounds who are dealing with the issues mentioned above.
    • To provide effective working tools for professionals to properly intervene in said issues.
    • To familiarize participants with current resources and resource needs in an environment that facilitates interdisciplinary, collaborative networking.
    • To provide tools for professionals to mobilize and develop and implement prevention and intervention programs in integrated settings.
